Welcome to Viva, a one-of-a-kind establishment located on 903 Duval Street, Key West. Honoring the owner's heritage, Viva has established itself as the first and only Argentinian steakhouse in Key West. Here you will have the chance to enjoy the finest Argentinian grass-fed steak (pasture-raised), seafood, pasta, burgers, salads and an extensive variety of wines.
Viva’s history is colorful; originally built in the early 1900s, at different times it has been a brothel, a hotel, and an adult entertainment center (ok.. strip joint), and its spacious and rustic courtyard once housing a large swimming pool.
In the 1970s and ‘80s, celebrities such as actor Bill Murray and writer Hunter S. Thompson would frequent Viva as they cut loose in Key West. In the late ‘80s, it became an art gallery, owned by Richard Heyman – one of the first openly gay public officials in the U.S. who later became mayor of Key West. During the ‘90s, the building was transformed in the famous Bar, named Viva Zapata. It was the best place to hang out in Key West, say longtime locals, who continue to come to this day.
The most recent change was in April 2018, when new owners arrived from Argentina. Two entrepreneurial friends - Alfredo and Gaston - came to Key West, totally open to learn and wanting to feel at one with the island. They’ve kept the same, funky vibe that residents and visitors have grown to love, while bringing new flavors, experiences and entertainment to make Viva Saloon really come alive – and become one of the most exciting destinations in Key West!
At Viva you will experience great food and drinks, live music, karaoke, trivia, private parties, events and much more.
